Socio-technical Systems in the Age of AI

Artificial intelligence (AI) as a ‘general purpose technology’ is crucial to current social development. From a business informatics perspective, the question arises as to whether AI in socio-technical systems should be viewed not only as a technology, but also in terms of how it will influence the tasks and position of humans in the application of technology in a business context.

The 21st International Conference Wirtschaftsinformatik at Johannes Kepler University Linz (Austria) will address this issue in depth. We invite all scientists and practitioners who are interested in scientific discourse on this topic to attend WI2026.

The International Conference Wirtschaftsinformatik is coming back to Austria – for the first time since 2009. It is the most important platform for the Wirtschaftsinformatik and Information Systems community in the German-speaking world and offers academia and industry the opportunity to exchange ideas on current topics. In addition to the content, the conference focuses primarily on networking within the community.
